Maruti Ertiga's full review -

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga -

Maruti launched the second generation Ertiga in the beginning of this week and we just started to review its petrol automatic and manual version yesterday. The company has launched the new Ertiga in 10 different variants. So how is the new Ertiga, and what are the major changes in it, please read our full review.

Does this look good beforehand?

Absolutely! The new Ertiga is not only large, it looks even more gentle and bold than before. Its raised hood, 4 slat grape grill, and large headlamps attach to the earlier model and give Smart Looks. Its bumper is also quite sporty for a family MPV. There are no DRLs or LED lights, but projector headlamps are not enough here.

In seeing side you will see 15-inch new alloy wheels. They do not have diamond cut look or chrome but they look quite decent. Its shoulder line gets up and ends with D pillar and you get sheet metal instead of more glass. But, the glasses in the rest of the door are big enough to make its interior more airy.

You will see lots of new things in the rear of Ertiga. Like the big front lamps, the HI Tail Light is also big enough. The front bumper looks quite sporty just like the front bumper. Altogether, Ertiga's rear draws attention after so many changes. Its design is quite big and it is certainly better than earlier models. Before the interior you can also see our video review below:

Is the cabin more premium?

Absolutely! As soon as the outside of the new Ertiga has a new design theme, it does not look like the previous version. Inside you get to see the dual-tone theme. But what you will most like here is its design, in which flatwood inserts and flat design of AC Vents. The same applies to speedometer steering wheel and speedometer with TFT screen taken from Ciaz (for gasoline version only). Simple design of its climate control panel gives you an expensive car experience. Dual charging ports, large space for mobile phones, and ventilated cup holders for the first time in the segment.

It is very easy to enter the car and you get a soft seat as you enter it, which may not be the right choice in a long distance. Its seats are quite comfortable and even if the armrest is small, the slide function is available. Visibility in the car is excellent and due to increased width and height of the car, long driveers should not be covered. But there is no dead pedal, sunglasses holder, cooled glovebox, or cruise control in the car!

In the second row, it is very easy to penetrate for the doors that are open far away. In the middle line, there was no shortage of leg room in the middle row despite the rear of the seat for a long man. The second line has a 60:40 split recline and slide function. You get armrest and charging port here too, but the main thing here is the feeling of place and openness. According to the hope, the third row now gets more space and you get 70 mm more space for your knees. There was no difficulty sitting in a tall man, and after sitting, there was a 2 inch space between the head and the roof. Visibility was also very good in the third line, there are 2 cup holders and 1 charging port in the name of features, and 50-50 splits and reclines. Here Marazzo gets an edge over Ertiga, and it is the optional Captain seats for the middle row, which makes it even more in the back row.

Despite being the third line in Ertiga, its boot space is quite attractive. Here you also get a hidden storage space and have a hard cover on it.

Is there a new engine in it?

Absolutely! The new Eritga has a new 1.5-liter petrol engine, the same engine that we had seen in Ciaz some time ago. Talking about the data, the new engine gives more output than before with 103 bhp and 138 nm. This output does not affect the mileage of the new Ertiga and the vehicle's mileage rating is 18.69 km / liter (automatic) and 19.34 km / liter (manual).

But what is the driving experience of the car? A few months ago, Ciaz Patrol's drive was quite good and there was something similar with Ertiga. We first ran manually and there is plenty of torque in the low-range. You can also walk up to 35-40 km / hour on the fifth gear in traffic and then fasten the train without any obstacles immediately. Due to this, we could also drive this car in the third gear at only 15-20 km / hour. Mileage is also good for this. On the Gurgaon-Faridabad road the engine once again showed its johar and its sound was also good. Its gear shift is also excellent.

Automatic Ertiga is quite a robot. This invoice is very easy and you feel you are driving a lot of buggy. Yes, it only receives 4 speed gearboxes, but if you are not taking the car on a daily-highway then you should not have any problem. Due to being a torque converter unit, there is no delay during shifts and you do not get a manual over-ride option, but it remains easily in the first gear. Note that the automatic variant only comes in VXI and ZXI trim, not in top-spec ZXI +.

What about chasse?

The new HETTEC platform has been used in the new Ertiga which makes the vehicle strong enough. Despite its hardening, the weight of the car is almost the same as the previous model. The new chassis also reduces noise, vibration, harshness levels, and with this new suspension makes this MPV quite comfortable. Even if you do not comply with the old model, the new model itself is very comfortable in itself. While driving, you will not realize that you are running a large MPV. It is quite stable and runs steady on bad roads. Say in a word, the new Ertiga is comfortable.

On the road of Gurgaon-Faridabad you get many chances to walk fast and here Ertiga was the best balancing. Yes, you will not find handling like hot hatch here, but it's great for an MPV. Its handling does not surprise you unwanted, steering also gives feedback on fast speeds and breaks work well. Talking about handling in everyday use, here too Maruti has maintained a good balance. Its steering is light and this MPV provides good feedback in traffic.

Should you buy this car?

Despite being expensive in the past, no car in the new eritiga is competing in India. Honda BR-V gasoline is almost 2 lacs expensive, but the base diesel is about Rs 1.2 lakh less than the Ertiga base Marazzo. If you are looking for a small 7 seater in the market and often travel with the family, Ertiga is the best choice at this price. Its design is fresh, there is more space in the cabin, there is a premium experience and an engine that meets both Performance and Mileage. Yes, some features are still not present, but they lack more. In fact, you can consider the new Ertiga as a very good (and cheap) alternative to C-Segment sedan like Ciaz.
